These signs are designed to hold students accountable, grow their listening comprehension and discussion skills, and keep read aloud fun while making it purposeful!

Here’s how you use the signs: Each student (or pair of students) receives a sign. This is their purpose for listening to the read aloud. As the teacher reads, students raise their signs when they find evidence of their purpose for listening, and share their thinking using the provided speaking stems.
