Creative book project ideas for the entire year!

Engage your students and spark their creativity with these seasonal book project ideas! We’ll explore six book projects and provide a suggested text to go along with each one!

Book project ideas for the entire year

1. Disguise a Pumpkin

This fun and engaging book project asks students to bring a pumpkin to life! Each child chooses a small to medium sized pumpkin and disguises it to look like one of their favorite book characters. Students can use paint, construction paper or whatever else they can think of to make their pumpkin character. Finally, they complete a competition entry form to submit their completed work of art!

2. Disguise a Turkey – The Great Turkey Escape

This book project asks students to become masters of disguise! Each student is given a turkey template which they must disguise as a character from one of their favorite books. Suggested materials to craft the disguise include construction paper, felt, feathers, paint, buttons, pipe cleaners and any other craft supplies your kids can think up!

3. Disguise a Gingerbread Man – Run, Run, as Fast as You Can

This festive book project asks students to decorate a gingerbread man to disguise him or her as a book character. Each student is given a gingerbread cut out and can create their decorations from any craft supplies you have on hand – colored paper, felt, material scraps, buttons, paint and more.

4. Snowman in Disguise

This book project challenges students to help a snowman escape by crafting a disguise based on a favorite book character. This one is great for animal-type characters but will also work with human characters too! Use any craft supplies you have on hand in your classroom and let your students’ creativity flow!

5. Disguise a Bunny – Help SomeBunny Escape!

A fun book project for the Easter season, students will help a bunny escape by creating a super disguise! Using a bunny template, students add clothes and features of their favorite book character using craft materials.

6. Design a Bookmark

Perfect for any time of year, this book project involves students designing a bookmark based on a motto or saying about reading. Students use a bookmark template and add text and pictures to communicate their message. Finished bookmarks can be displayed to make a wonderful bulletin board and then used during reading time at school!
