Earth Science Partner Plays about Earth’s surface, weather, and more

Have fun teaching fifth grade science with these eight different partner plays reinforcing scientific concepts of the TEKS including formation of sedimentary rock and fossil fuels, landforms, weather, climate the sun, Earth, and moon, and more!

These plays are each two pages long, written for two readers in grades 4-5.

They include a TEKS alignment included for Fifth Grade Science TEKS. Each play also has a vocabulary sheet to pre-teach vocabulary and a space for students to sketch the meaning of the words as they read. These are the eight plays included:

It’s a Hard Rock Life: A sedimentary rock and a metamorphic rock have a discussion about their “life stories” through the rock cycle. (5.7A) Vocabulary words: sedimentary, igneous, metamorphic, weathering, erosion, deposition, sediment, compaction, cementation, decomposition

The Project: A brother and sister build a model to represent how fossil fuels are formed. (5.7A)

Weather or Not: Two contestants play a game where they have to identify whether statements are referring to weather or climate. (5.8A)
