Preparing your students for the STAAR test is such a challenge.

It’s even more difficult now that kids and teachers are working remotely or in a hybrid model, with some students at school and some online!

Camp Reading Ready Texas Test Prep for Google Slides

This camp includes ten different stations aligned to the TEKS to help students practice and prepare the skills they need to be successful.

This resource is for grades 3-5. Special versions of several activities are included for fourth and fifth grade.

At each station, students earn badges and can add them to their digital badge card!

The Google Slides activities are interactive and involve matching, sorting, underlining, and filling in text boxes.

Collect badges for each station!

Packing for the Trip

In this genre activity, students use the characteristics of genre to identify the genre of short passages. Then they sort vocabulary words and features between different genres.

Finally, they read questions and match them to the genre they are likely asking about. It all involves clicking and dragging!

Hunting for Tracks

Students read the paragraphs and identify the clues that will help them figure out the meaning of the unknown word. Then they choose the best definition and write it in the text box.

Stacking S’mores

This academic vocabulary activity has students match vocabulary words, pictures, and definitions! They build s’mores by stacking graham cracker definitions, marshmallow pictures, and chocolate definitions!

Pitch the Tent

In this activity, students sequence paragraphs to build an informational article. Then they match text features to each section to demonstrate which features best support the information in the section.

Hiking Down the Path

This activity is designed to have students identify synonyms of character traits to play a board game! Designed for two players to play at the same time.

Gone Fishin’ for Text Features

In this two-player game, students play memory to match text feature vocabulary with an example of each!

Creepy Crawlies

This activity has students read poetry and fiction texts and identify figurative language. They underline them with their line tool and record examples in the table next to each type.

Campfire Stories

Students sequence events into a fiction story. Click and drag to build the story!

What’s That Noise?

Students read poems and gather clues to figure out the subject of the poem. Then they make an inference about the who or what the subject is and type it in the text box!
